skinner chapel 15 years!

Fifteen takes on a whole new meaning. There was the Freshman Fifteen (of course, we may be feeling that again about now). Or maybe, since we're prepping for Reunion '05, and it's a new year with resolutions in full swing, we can dub it the Getting Fit Fifteen.

Is this a time to reflect?

A simple "Google" search on "Fifteen" on the internet yields some rather interesting results that may mirror some aspects of Carleton grads:

  • Our desire to do social good:
    • A punk rock band called "Fifteen" who "believe(s) in social changes, in questioning the world around you, and in making a difference, not just talking about it."
    • A guy who trains 15 unemployed youths as chefs to work in his restaurant, simply named the Fifteen Restaurant.

  • Our interests in mental challenges and learning:
    • Rubik's version of the 15 puzzle.
    • And Sam Loyd's Fifteen, where the description starts off: "In the general framework of Graph Theory." (I'll leave it at that. Have fun math and comp sci majors!).

  • Our admiration for innovative ideas, art, and personal works:
    • The Fifteen Project is "an experiment dedicated to exposing underground, emerging, interesting, and powerful expressive voices."

  • Our dreams (for some, that is.):
    • A list of the top 15 richest fictional characters in America and their net worth, from Forbes Magazine. Remember, it's a list of "fictional" characters ... keep dreaming!

  • Or just plain nonsensical fun:
Fifteen is actually a pretty darn good number, despite what the Class of 1995 is saying about us.

And for many of us, it may also represent the number of years since we've been back to campus. Whatever it may represent to you, we hope to see you June 16th - 19th, 2005 for our 15th Reunion!

More details forthcoming.
